I can honestly say I can not think of a better man then brother Sean as a youth Pastor. His passion for the the youth is awesome. I just love Kristi as well. She has such a sweet spirit. I have been busy with seniors this past month. I had a session with a guy name Van. He was so sweet and very easy to work with. Van could be on the cover of a teen magazine. I think he could model for just about any clothing store. He's girlfriend called me today to set up her session and we both agree he is just a natural. She also has studied photography and it just so happen that we both loved the one of him looking down laughing on the step's . It is the kind of image that makes me love photography with all my heart. What a precious moment! The mother in me got emotional when I saw it. I can only pray the Lord allows me to capture a moment like this of my boys when they are grown. I think that it is awesome that his girlfriend and I loved the same one. I look forward to my session with her. I think it would be so fun to do a session with someone that loves photography.

This session almost didn't happen. The wind Thursday was a nightmare. God came through and there was NO wind once we got to our location. Jacob and Natalie go to the same church as me. Jacob is to funny and I am surprised I got any serious shot's. He is such a cut up. Natalie and him had some really cut little things they do together.

They did so well in the session and were so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. It was so easy to do this session with them. I can honestly say that I really adore these images. I found this location and to tell you the truth I am jealous LOL . I want some pictures of me and Brad done her. Here are a few of my favorites . I wish them the best of luck. It was interesting to try something different like keyboards and guitars. This was so new for me. I found some art ideas online and did some cool compositions. I enjoyed it so much! I could get into this. Once the room is completed it will mean so much to my child. To have the prints up and framed that I did for him is to cool!!! (that is what he will say) LOL

Candy is a great friend of mine. We help each other out where we can . She helps me so much. If she has a piece of furniture I could use for a session she will let me borrow it. She also will help me with my house. For example, this year she did my front door for Christmas.
( I stink at decorating and she is awesome at it). So when it comes time for pictures, I gladly do them for her when she needs them. ( Not that I would ever charge her anyway, I do not charge my dearest friends).
We had a session the other day for her Christmas pictures. It took us over a hour because I had to spend so much time working around the harsh sun. Sometimes sessions take time to get it right. I always feel it is worth it when you see the final product. I do NOT like to rush a session!! I like to work on the poses and try to make sure I avoid harsh lighting when I can. I really love the way their pictures came out . They are a great family. A total blast to me around. They are so much fun and so laid back.

I did a session for a old friend of mine from 5th grade. It was their family Christmas session. The wind was at least 20mph. We had to do the session on the front porch and in front of the shutters. It was so funny!! At one point my skirt flew all the way up. Thank God only Laurie saw. (I hope no one eles did anyway, lol). I was not able to put them on the ground or get real creative because of the wind. I truly love these pictures anyway.
This was the second time recently I did a session for a old friend. When I met Laurie we were 10 and 11 years old. In fact, we were so close of friends growing up that she was my maid of honor in my wedding 12 years ago. Her little girl looks so much like Laurie I could not believe it. It was great to see her. Within minutes of being around her it was like 25 years ago to me. They are a wonderful family. I wish them the very best.

Today I took some pictures for a old friend of mine. I met my friend Jill 25 years ago. She was in my wedding 11 years ago. We lost touch over the years. I saw her at my nieces graduation in May this year. To make a long story short she is now my sons 1st grade teacher. (I am thrilled about that). Jill is truly a wonderful person. She is so kind and I think it is such a blessing to have her in my sons life. It was so amazing to me that 25 years after we met I was taking pictures of her children and she is teaching my son. I was only 11 years old when I moved to Louisiana and Jill's was a true friend from the very start.
Here are a few of my favorites from the session. They were so awesome to photograph. Her son could truly go into modeling. It was totally natural to him. They are both beautiful children!!!!

My sister added this to the bottom of a letter she wrote me. It really touched me. I never really thought of this before. The truth is... the troubles we have in life are hard and heavy to carry. However, when I think of the chains he freed me from how can I give up. There are times i feel I can not carry it but God truly has been good to me. Life has not been a bed of roses for me . I can not even begin to tell you how fearful I was for many years. How I lived like that I will never understand, but God worked and worked with me and has truly been there for me every step off the way. I am a different person and so grateful for his love and mercy in my life. He really did free me from the chains . He has changed so may things in me and loved me when no-one else did. I love Him and pray I can always remember what God freed me from. I pray I never think living for Him is to much work. Thank you Andre' for what you sent me. It really made me think.

I have been thinking and working on narrowing my business down. I have decided after much thought to focus on working with children up to seniors. I will still do sports during the ball season. Many photographers are variety photographers and some just focus on one thing. I feel I do great at engagements also but it involves weddings. Since I won't be doing weddings for a while , I feel I should not do the engagements either. When you get into photography some times it takes a few years to feel after what you want to focus on. Many photographers change their focus and start something new. So many people want me to stay with weddings but it is just to demanding . I have three children and I didn't like being away from my family 7 hours on a Saturday . My business is small and I like that I am free to be there for my kids. My family is the most important thing to me. If my husbands job ever changes then I may go back to weddings. I enjoy working with children and I love senior work so this will be my focus. I will be able to do many of my children sessions in the studio or on location during the week . I will do some children and the senior sessions on the weekends . Of course senior sessions are seasonal so most of the time I will be working with children sessions. I am going to be working on some new products to offer my seniors soon. I am ordering some really awesome muslins and going to work on added some new areas for my studio . I am so happy because I normally have my head going in 1oo directions for all the different kinds of sessions I have. Any one out there that is ADD knows what I am talking about. (LOL) Those nights you stay up and your mind goes 100 miles a hour. How great it will be to put all my attention and focus on just children ,teens seniors and outdoor sports. I simply can't wait!!!!!!

We went the Point -Aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota, LA for Jerilyn's bridals. This place is beautiful!!! The sad news is it was pouring rain when we got there. We had to take all the images inside. It turned a out to be OK and the images are really awesome.

A few changes to my buisness

My husband and I have been talking and we made a decision. I will not being doing any couples, engagements, or weddings for several months. I feel I could give more to my business if I had a easier schedule. Weddings require a great deal of time and dedication. The dedication is not my problem but time is. With Brad working the kind of work he does it is just not going to work right now. I feel that I should focus on families, children, teens, seniors(this includes all school events) and outdoor sports . This way I can offer more products to my clients. I will be able to narrow things down some. I will finish out any jobs I have already contracted out. I will look at my situation again before the beginning of the next year . At that time, we will decide if I will do weddings again. I truly love weddings and will miss them so much. I feel it is best at this time in my life that I am not taking on such a big responsibility . My life is so full with my kids and my husbands work. Everything else I do in photography I can find plenty of time for.

Here we go again

Well, here were go again. I can not believe another hurricane issue! We did not have the energy to leave again. I never dreamed I would stay but we just didn't feel we could do it again. As I write this I am in my room with my kids and Brad. We have the TV on to watch news and flash lights by the bed. I am praying hard they fall a sleep and God helps them sleep through it. I am starting to get a little nervous but doing well. We prayed so hard over our home and I am trusting God. I just want it to be over. My biggest concern is no electricity . I take 2-3 baths a day and I LOVE my electricity. lol. I am the girl that used to shave when I went camping. LOL
Anyway, I got online and saw some things that broke my heart. I saw a picture of a husband and wife with cops walking down the road in the pouring rain. Behind them was their home on fire. All they had was the bag in their hands. I saw another picture of a man in water up to his neck. He was trying to save his car. And the worst was a family stranded on top of their home with rain and the water was very high. The reporter was saying they are not going to be able to rescue them because it was so bad. THIS IS HURTING MY HEART. I can't see them surviving . Life can really WAKE you up fast. Within 2 weeks you have Baton Rouge without lights. Now Galveston being destroyed as we speak. Not to mention Houston maybe getting it hard and not sure how it will be with the storm here yet. It seems God is helping our area and I am praying it misses us. We went through so much 3 years ago with Rita and just left last week with Gustav.
There are many things in life uncertain .However, I am certain I serve a good God. He is so wonderful and so worthy to be praised. I feel it is a honor to serve Him. My pray is we will be sensitive of others needs. For us to think more of others then we do of ourselves. I was just telling my sister tonight that I find the more we get caught up in thinking of ourselves the more unhappy we become. I used to have so many friends years ago. I did so much for others and I can honestly say I don't do much anymore. I am sorry if I seem like I am going on and on . I just feel we are all going to feel this storm in some way. They are taking about the gas truly being affected all over.I just want you all to know I am asking God to help my heart to be more sensitive to others needs. I also told my sister that I just had to do something to come out of my own world. I really want to start working at a shelter or something. Godhas really been dealing with my heart to work with the elderly lately. It is in my heart to do it. I am just going to have to do make myself get started. I don't ever want anything bad to happen to anyone . I just feel if we have to go through something we might as well let it bring out the good in us. I pray everyone is safe. TriCoast Photography taught a awesome workshop!

I was able to attend a workshop put on by TriCoast Photography .I have to say I am amazed by the talent of these photographers. I have been to many conventions but nothing can compare to this workshop. It was hands on learning. The technique I learned is so awesome! I plan on working on it daily. It is shooting in a way that is so different then what I have learned so far. It is so exciting! It is no doubt what every senior would love! I can't wait to use it on bridals as well. The coolest thing about it is you can do it at the brightest time of the day. No more waiting until afternoon when the time is right. No more hiding from he sun. If you are not sure what makes this different take notice of a few things. Notice the clouds and the color of the sky. At the brightest time of the day you could not take a picture with the sky in it without it turning white(blown out). Also, how often can you take a imagine with the background completely blurred out at the brightest time of the day.It would also blow the image out. I can't explain it all because it would take to long. Another thing I love is how you can use flash with this and make the skin look so awesome. Notice how the eyes have a catch light in them. A great thing is with this is certain shadows give a dimensional look to the image. I never thought I could love flash photography so much!!! At the workshop we used our own cameras. The challenge at home is working with one of your flashes on a stand and not having someone to hold it where you need it. I will have to get a light stand with a tilt head.
TriCoast is so talented. I was totally blown away the whole time! They do weddings and travel all over the world. They work together as a team. What impressed me the most was how down to earth they were. The pictures of the models are the ones I took at the workshop. I did not focus on composition so ignore that. I was just focusing on learning the technique. When I got home today I graped Christian and ran outside to try it on him. It took about 15 mins to get a few because I need a stand with a tilt but I got a few. I sure wish I could take Brad to all my sessions to hold the light. LOL . Anyway, I really feel this is going be the best thing I could of even done for my photography. Check out their site http://www.tricoastphoto.com/

I am leaving Sunday to go to a 3 days workshop about a 1 hour from here. I am extremely excited about this workshop. TriCoast Photography will be teaching at this workshop. If I understand right it is a team of very talented photographers. It seems to be cutting edge photography. This is a hands on workshop and we will be taught by some of the best photographers. Sister Lois is a lady at my church that means so much to me. She has been there for me anytime I needed her. She is the one that God gave the dream to and showed her me holding a baby girl in the hospital. I had 2 pregnancy that didn't work out. I was devastated because I wanted a baby girl. She was there for me and really got me through. God gave her the dream about me having a baby girl. Within a few years I had my youngest child. A beautiful baby girl! Right now one of my sons is going into 1st grade and was very upset because he could not read. Sister Lois is taking the time to teach him. (she is great at this).It is really helping my child. THANK YOU!

Sister Lois loves her babies and we did these pictures so she would have some of her with them. I am so happy to be able to do something for her. You know it one thing in life to want to help someone and another to do it. Lois is a do it person. You can always depend on Lois to come through. Well, I got in my light and softbox. I am going to learn off this one light set up. My wonderful husband put it all together for me. We took out the flash meter that I have never used and brad put his mind to work. We figured out how to take the reading and had a simple backdrop ready. My kids came running with their special clothes they wanted to wear. So here is my first studio light practice pictures . I have so much to learn! lol Anyway, this was special because my two youngest wanted to wear their dress up clothes. It was the sweetest thing when Ethan came out with the jacket and dress shirt he picked. It was 10:00pm and they were looking tired and did not have their hair comb . It is funny to me how my favorite pictures of my kids are the ones I put the least amount of effort in dressing them. The meter read F11 and we put the shutter on 60. The ISO was on 160 and I tired 200 as well. I have been reading on one light set up and it appear there are 3 different ways (terms) to use. I only tried one tonight. I won't be able to do this in my living room because of the color paint have it to dark. I can see it in my images. Anyway, what do you all think? I am sure there are things I did wrong but I am surely please with the fact that we got a reading and ended up with pictures. lol I think I am hooked. I can't wait to get creative. I loved it and I truly want to learn it. I guess it is time to call my instructor from Sowela for some tips. I can tell I am going to love this once I get the knowledge and practice I need. I think Maddie looks like a little angle in the first one. If you click to enlarge it you can see how pretty her eyelashes look. God has blessed me with precious kids!

What can I say about Katie and James. I LOVE them! They were always so kind to me . A great couple to work with. I can truly say that I think of them as my friends now. 5 tips for your wedding photography

Finally you have everything booked for your wedding. The countdown and last minute plans begin to take shape! Because your photographs will probably be the only lasting way to really remember all the effort you’ve put into this event, we’ve come up with our five top tips to help you make the most of your photographer (and allow them to create the best images possible).
Tip one: Allow more time!If time is going to be a bit tight for photography later on in the day (and with demands on your attention from family, relatives and friends it usually is!) why not start getting ready earlier? Then you can make plans to have photographs with your bridesmaids, parents and other important people in your life when you’ve just finished getting ready. You’ll be looking absolutely perfect and if you’ve left extra time for this you’ll also have a bit of time to calm your nerves before walking out the door! Your bridesmaids and parents will especially treasure these photos with you - the last hour as a single girl!
Tip Two: Plan your locations in advance!Your photographer is going to have a lot to think about on the day. Make their life easier by thinking about potential good locations for your group shots in advance.
Tip Three: Make time for photographyWe know weddings are about celebrating your union with your closest friends and family, but remember that your photographs are your way of showing your future children or grandchildren what your wedding day was like. It makes sense to maximise the skills of your photographer and to try and get some really beautiful shots of the two of you. Shots like the ones you see in magazines though don’t just ‘happen’ when you’re not watching, they take time, effort and a willingness to work with your photographer.
Tip Four: Be natural!It might be the only time you ever have a camera pointed at you for an entire day, but try to act natural and forget the photographer is there. It’s great if you can find a photographer who you really get along with, because they really do become a friend and can then blend into the crowd and get some really relaxed shots. It’s especially important when taking photographs of the bride and groom that you focus on each other. Laugh, giggle, cuddle and kiss. Forget about the camera! That’s what makes great photographs, not stiff and awkward formal poses with no emotion!
Tip Five: Ask family what they would like!While we don’t recommend handing your photographer a huge list of group set ups (which will only stress everybody on the day when Auntie Elma can’t be found), it’s still great to get some feedback from your parents and other key family members on which photographs they would absolutely love. We’ve heard horror stories of parents being devastated when the prints come back and there isn’t one of the bride with her Mom on their own for example. If this or other shots are particularly important to you or your family then let the photographer know in advance. There are so many variations of family shots it would usually take hours to do them all, so if you have a particular preference do let your photographer know - and well in advance of the day!

I am only going to do small weddings for the year of 2009. When I say small weddings I am referring to the wedding party. No more then 4 attendants on each side. A total of 10-12. (Bride ,groom, 2-3 children, 4 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids .) I will gladly do the engagements and bridals for anyone. I just want to do smaller wedding. I would like to wait a year before doing anymore large weddings. My kids are still young and my husbands schedule is complicated. What can I say about Daren and Candy. They are so much fun and crazy! Daren says about 3 words in 1 hour and Candy says about 300 words. There is never a dull moment around them. They are fun and major cut ups! Even without words Daren does things that just makes me laugh. I just love them so much! Candy is the one that allows me to use her house for sessions. She is very easy going. They are always so willing to share their home and help in anyway. I never have to work hard for ideas with Candy. She makes it so easy. She is working with me the whole time and helping with ideas. Daren is always doing something crazy that should make me have a red face. For some reason I can handle it with them. They take such romantic pictures as well. I could not share them all but here are a few of my favorites. The light was so harsh even at 6:00pm. We did what we could considering is was just to harsh. I had a session with Jillain the other day. She is the most adorable baby! She looks like a Anne Geddes. She has big eyes and roles all over her. I was in baby hog heaven. When I went to the practice rehearsal for Larry and Rebecca tonight I was given these beautiful flowers and a card. I had to hold back the tears. I can not express how much my heart has grow to love this couple. They touched my heart today more then they will ever know. Sometimes I feel that photography is just to challenging for me to continue doing weddings. My clients know when they hire me that I don't have years of experience in weddings . I do everything within me to to give them all that is in me that day and more. I want to be a blessing and a joy when I show up on their wedding day. I love the way Anthony's face is so full of joy in this picture when he is hugging his mother. I LOVE capturing people's emotions. It is why I love photography so much! I had a senior session with Brad's Cousin name Troy the other day . He is very talented in sports and is going to college on full ride scholarship. He was so easy to work with . I have seen this a done by few photographers and LOVED it. It is a session with Tu Tu's or Pettiskirts. It is precious. I tested it on Maddie today and she loved it. We don't want to forget our little girls when they play dress up and now we can look back on these pictures and remember how sweet they were. I provide the Tu Tu's to wear for the session. Your little girl can even bring a little friend with her to wear a skirt and play for the shoot. It is 1 location and last up to one hour. This session is only for the Tu Tu outfit. I really enjoyed my session with Larry & Rebacca. They are so down to earth and easy to please. I am blessed to have met them. They look great in these images. They love sports and Larry is a coach . I love their idea of the football field. I love lines and textures in photography so this was a awesome location. The one to the left is truly my favorite. I LOVE it!! I love the way they look. There is such a romantic feel to this image. When you are able to capture a moment like this it feels great. I can't wait for their wedding day. This photo shop action is bright but that is what makes it so awesome to me. It is just a little bit brighter then I would use when printing. I love the diffuse glow with black and white.

As far as Jimmy & Taylor. I think this couple will have a wonderful and happy future together. Jimmy has such a kind spirit about him. Taylor is truly the coolest and most outgoing person . (1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Argument! s that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an goof and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says "Thanks a lot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "you're welcome" ... that will bring on a "whatever").
(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying CENSORED!!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to # 3.

This my very dearest friend ,Brenda . I had a photo session with her and her daughter ,Rebeca. Brenda is such a wonderful Godly women. She is so fun and has the greatest outlook on life. What I am so impressed by is the kind of mother she is. I rarely meet a mother that puts so much into their children. Brenda loves and prays so much for her kids. She is not only a mother but a friend to them. There are not enough words to describe my love and respect for this women. She is truly a jewel. Her little girl is so full of life as well. I now have Hard Cover Photobooks to offer my clients. Here are a few pages to show. I have them if a client would like to see them. They come in with anywhere from 20-30 pages. They are $100.00 right now. The Senior books come with the senior packages.
